Project - Formula Student

Course code: MVKP45 & MVKP50

Take the opportunity to join Lund Formula Student (LFS) and build a race car! This engineering project course allow you to apply and develop your skills acquired during your studies at Lund University. The finished product will eventually be tested in competitions against other universities at an international level.

Through team work, a new car is built every year based on the knowledge from previous year. this requires: detailed project planning, budgets, literature studies, aerodynamic simulations, solid mechanics, mechanical elements, hands on manufacturing, company networking, marketing and so forth. In other words, all team members are equally important to make the car become reality!

Formula student 1 - Initiation, Pre-study and Design (MVKP45, 7.5hp)

This course aims to provide knowledge and experience in project form under strict deadlines. The students design and manufacture a complete car concept in the form of a formula car, where the entire process from initiation, feasibility study, planning, implementation and closure is treated.

In this course Initiation, pre-study, planning and design are handled. The students take on different project group roles, and through the course get an understanding of a project's various stages to a production ready product. The course challenges students' skills in applying knowledge from previous courses such as mechanics, electrical engineering, programming, solid mechanics, construction technology, manufacturing methods and vehicle technology. Along the way student will face challenges and learn about group development, teamwork, project management, budgeting, marketing and presentation.

Formula Student 2 – Implementation and closure (MVKP50, 7.5hp)

This course aims to provide knowledge and experience in project form under strict deadlines. The students design and manufacture a complete car concept in the form of a formula car, where the entire process from initiation, feasibility study, planning, implementation and closure is treated.

This course deals with the implementation and closure of inherited problems from Formula Student 1 - Initiation, Pre-Study and Design. In the course, students will shoulder all the roles of a project group and through the course gain skills in applying knowledge from previous courses such as mechanics, electrical engineering, programming, solid mechanics, construction technology, manufacturing methods and vehicle technology. Along the way student will face challenges and learn about group development, teamwork, project management, budgeting, marketing and presentation.
